On February 17th, 2009, President Barak Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 into law. The legislation included sweeping changes in federal tax credits for home owners who make "green" improvements to their homes. Qualified equipment includes a variety of energy efficient temperature control solutions ranging from High Efficiency Gas Forced Air Heating and Air Conditioning to Boilers, Heat Pumps and other heating and cooling equipment.
Installing new energy efficient appliances in your home can save you money on your energy bills every month as well as improve the comfort of your home.
Qualified equipment must be placed in service between January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010 and be for the taxpayer's principal residence.
The maximum amount allowable for any home owner is $1,500 total that can be claimed for any and all products installed in 2009 & 2010 for most home improvements, EXCEPT for Geothermal Heat Pumps, Solar Water Heaters, Solar Panels, Fuel Cells, and Small Wind Energy Systems which are not subject to this cap, and are in effect through 2016.
The Homeowner must have a Manufacturers Certification Statement to qualify, as well as a receipt of payment from All Temperatures Controlled, Inc. We can help you with these documents.
Any improvements made in 2009 will be claimed on your 2009 taxes (filed by April 15, 2010) — use IRS Tax Form 5695 (2009 version) — it will be available late 2009 or early 2010.
